About Us

The Pauline & Jane Chilton Memorial Public Library is located at 400 Oakes Street, across the street from the Presbyterian and Catholic Churches. We have built a new Library on the site of the old Marlin High School. We provide services to all Texas residents.

We have approximately 12,000 books and audio titles available for patrons' use. High speed Internet access is available on eight patron computers. In addition, we provide free computer training in our computer lab.

Genealogy Room contains a wealth of information on Texas and local history. Genealogy research is supported by access to microfilm of the Marlin Democrat Newspaper from 1897 to the present. We also have Cemetery Records for most Falls County Cemeteries.

The Gonzales Room is a conference room/kitchen combination that is available for rent to the Public. This space has room for approximately 30 people and is ideal for birthday parties, baby showers, family reunions, and business meetings. The cost is $35.00 for the first two hours and $15.00 for each additional hour for non-profit gatherings. For business/commercial use the rent is $50.00 for the first two hours and $15.00 for each additional hour. This space may be made available free of charge for certain charitable and community events, such as the First Tuesday Book Club. Ask the Librarian to reserve the room or obtain additional information.
